I had an additional meeting today in order to address some concerns I was having about the manufacture of my product and the final design of the chopping board.
I was getting really caught up with all the options and concepts that I had to create a chopping board that would be able to sit above household sinks as universally as possible. During my discussion with Chris I have decided to keep the design as simple and as slick as possible. I tested a board that was the approximately the size of my chopping board over multiple sinks, and with an over lap and a downward force there was fairly little movement. I will be adding a boarder of silicone around the edges of the board in order to minimise any movement that is there.
After having this discussion and agreeing that the simplicity would be the the most effective way forward I still don't think this lends itself in the most ideal was for all sinks. As a solution to this I think I will attempt to make the chopping board double sided. One side will be arranged so the user can lay the board lengthwise, but if this doesn't suit a user due to the length of their sink, the position of their taps or any other reason the reverse side of the board will be designed for the board to be used crosswise. This feature may also create more versatility for left and right handed users.
My next point of action will be to decide on a final size for the board to optimise the space secondly address the best way to attach the silicone boarder to the board.
