Having developed the final 3 bowls that will incorporated into the design my focus is increasing the child safety of them. To do this i have been experimenting with silicone to create a rubbery edge in comparison to a harsh metal edge. The silicon can be forced around the metal but wont bond to this. I see this a feature in itself as it allows it to be removed and cleaned easily.

I have begun experimenting with this idea and will be creating more moulds and testing different densities of silicon to get the correct texture.

Originally I was planning to buff out the wood grain pattern that is created on the inside of the bowl during the spinning process. However I believe this would allow the bowls to flow nicely with the gain on the chopping board and create greater continuity between the different elements of my product.
