Having taken a step back and re-evaluated the insights I gathered from my research and mark 1 presentation, I noticed that one of the most off putting aspects of cooking with children is the mess that is often a by-product of preparing food. I have come across some chopping boards that are designed to be positioned over the sink. I think I could reinvent this concept to better lend itself to children. I like the idea of taking advantage of this space in the kitchen, additionally it would allow mess to be conveniently contained to a specific area and easy washed away. The depth of a sink would also allow me to create a very interactive and multi-dimensional product.
Having this idea I would like to incorporate features such as removable colanders for prepared food. With this in mind I have been learning to spin bowls with aluminium. Stainless steel would be my first choice of material but the facilities at hand limit this decision. As it is a children’s product I have researched adding colour to this component. I will need to choose between anodising the material in order to dye the colander after it has been formed, alternatively I could use sublimation printing the material before it is formed.

I would like to greater explore the possibilities of this concept. Restrictions may occur in terms of standard sink sizes and materials.
