I have started to develop some of my paper based concepts into physical forms. I have started to 3D print textured surfaces that could potentially be used for a chopping board. These textures will be tested in the attempt to reduce the movement of an item of food that is being chopped. Another aspect of the chopping board I think would be a worth while addition to my product was something to stop the board slipping when on the counter top. To develop this idea further I am currently experimenting with suction cups and a nonslip material that could be incorporated into my redesigned chopping board. I believe these non slip elements could create a more stable environment to reduce the risk of accidental movement that may result in an accident.

I have also 3D printed a small cerated knife blade to get an idea for shape, form, and the possibility of using plastic as the final material. Also, in terms of the knife, I have been researching materials for the handle. I would like the handle to have a solid core with a flexible grip in order to be personal to the user and be able to adjust to growth and comfort. I have discussed this concept with workshop technicians and forward planning I wish to experiment with expanding foam and memory foam and use a dipping rubber to create a smooth and hygienic outer layer.
