I have always been interested in ethnography.

It was said by Anthropologist, Margret Meed, ‘what people say, what people do and what people say they do, are two entirely different things.’

This is why I have been doing a lot of observational work, especially with children as they often are confused and or their imaginations run wild. Despite having directly used my target audience to gain insights for my designs I think it would be interesting to gain another perspective. Therefor to broaden my research methods and comprehension of the issue I wish to solve I want to create a way to put adults in an environment that would allow them to associate themselves with the issues that may occur in the kitchen if they were a child.

To do this I have been researching anthropometric data of both adults and children, and the standard size of kitchen units in order to build a scale kitchen using waste material that will give an averaged sized adult the impression of the kitchen environment from a 5 year olds perspective.

This Ted Talk on Ethnographic Research I found particularly interesting to watch.
