Having received my first formal feed back following our concept presentations showing the majority of work that I have done during semester one I have taken the following action.

I have widened my research focus from looking at the very specifically at existing kitchen products for children, to generally well designed kitchen utensils, in order to see how these could inspire new designs for children.

I began by researching the Joseph Joseph brand. This was a company recommend to me at Gurus day several times and is also referred to in my feed back. The chopping boards are what standout to me the most from this brand. The innovative features incorporated into these designs really set them apart from similar products available on the market.

OXO also has some innovative products. OXO measuring utensils have inspired me, they have considered different materials and numerical displays that I haven't seen before. The versatile features of these products could be easily transferable to create an efficient utensil for children.

In an attempt to deepen my design language I have also looked into the Opinel, Cooper Hewitt, and Gourmet Settings. It has been interesting to learn about the detailed considerations related to the weight and structure of a utensil in order to create the optimum user experience.

I have concluded from my feed back that I wish to focus on the preparation stage of preparing a meal. Hopefully the product will come with recipes that require an substantial amount of preparation and a small amount of cooking time, as to tell the story of the product and encourage a feeling of accomplishment for the children as they will have contributed greatly to the outcome.
