Gurus day is up, the brief has been reviewed and I am to create and display 3 ‘cases’ which can take any form that appropriately convey and explain the relationship your concept has with the aspects of people, technology and design.
I have been looking at last years displays to get some insight into what I should create. The main thing I have taken away from this is to keep it short and sweet. I will be using a short description along with key words that associate my product to people, technology and design.
So heres what I've come up with,
My 50 words to describe my product-
Designing to help introduce children into the life skill of cooking by creating a fun and interactive product that would actively encourage kids to get involved. This Design will be targeted at 6-11 year old children to assist their cognitive development. This will in turn help a child’s understanding of basic mathematical and scientific concepts.
People -
I want to create a product that allows an easy and hassle free way to get children involved in cooking. Through this design I want to express cooking as a positive learning experience that will benefit children in the long term. I have been doing user research by helping at a Brownie group, visiting children’s cooking schools and creating cultural probes.
Design-
Kids in the Kitchen will most likely be taken down a very modular physical route therefor technology will not play a huge roll in the product itself. However I would like to create prototypes using 3D printing, so I will be using technology in the manufacture of the design.
Technology-
My design will be largely user focused. I have been studying the behaviours and psychology of how children learn along with child anthropometrics to design a product that will fit a child’s educational and physical needs.
