Making Chopping Easy

Working on a component of the chopping board that makes the act of chopping safer and simpler I have stared making an interactive surface for the board that would allow the user to slice and dice the vegetable very easily.

I took inspiration form the existing product below however the aesthetics of this design is very take and is very gimmicky in my opinion. I have 3D printed a scale version of the mechanism I would like to introduce to the surface of my board.

Although this design will need tweaking, it is all slightly too tight and there for difficult to make function, and I do not like the Finnish of the plastic therefor I will be re-designing the components to allow a veneer of wood on the top. Despite this I am happy with this first iteration and I will be continuing with this idea until it fits the needs of my users.
